Formed in 1917 in Lengnau, Switzerland as a manufacturer of watch movements, the company launched its first collection of watches under the Rado name in 1957 and the first scratchproof watch, made of hard metal, in 1962. Since then Rado has pioneered the use of other high tech materials such as sapphire crystals and ceramics--In 1990 they were the first to release a watch with a fully ceramic bracelet--the Ceramica, which remains a popular classic. True to their principle of "beauty that stays beautiful," the high-tech beauty of Rado watches is destined to last a lifetime.
